Sealant Scoop

Great Shape! Inc.’s Sealant Project is a community-based program designed to further improve the dental health for every child. The program uses sealants and fluoride treatments to cut the occurrence of cavities in half, helping children maintain healthy teeth for life.

Goal

After several years of extracting hundreds of teeth, and serving hundreds of children with mouths full of cavities, the Sealant Project evolved out of our 1000 Smiles Dental Project. In 2010, it started as a pilot project, in one school in Green Island, Jamaica, to prove the effectiveness of these anti-cavity treatments. In partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Sandals Foundation, our goal is to expand this project island wide, and eventually this model could serve all developing countries.

Accommodations

When you volunteer on the Sealant Project, you’ll get to stay at Sandals Resorts International. Thanks to the Sandals Foundation, all accommodations, transportation on the island, meals, logistical support and entertainment is provided pro-bono.
