Breadnut Hill Primary

April 6, 2011greatshapeincUncategorized2 comments
Amazing work Breadnut Hill garden club! Be a SuperKids volunteer and join the fun!
The Garden Club students at Breadnut Hill Primary have really embraced the idea of ‘greening their school’ with this recent project of creating a little farm inside the classroom!

Breadnut Hill teachers never waste an inch of teaching space in the classroom, and this corner now has a market and a garden patch, with a banana tree. How cool is that?!

I see beans, cabbage and pak choi growing here on the back 40. Wonder what they’re planning for the fenced area?

Jamaican students love style and fashion, and these farmers are dressed to till!

A nice touch with the labels on this diorama of the market vendors with their colorful veggies and fruits.

We planted a soursop tree with full joy and ceremony, and with the help of the Jamaican Forestry Service, and volunteers in the community, the Peace Corps and of course the teachers at Breadnut Hill. Thank you all!

“Likkle miss” Kay Knack says, “I am so inspired by the students’ interest in learning more about their environment and being part of a club or a class that ‘makes a difference.’”All the schools did nice yard cleanups too. You can see an album and a little movie about the Green Team in action last fall in Jamaica with SuperKids:
