Great Shape! Inc. 2009 Accomplishments

January 28, 2010greatshapeincUncategorized

Great Shape! Inc. is “action speaking louder than words”, said founder Georgene Crowe. As a nonprofit Great Shape! brings dedicated, loving people together to create change. For over 20 years volunteers have changed the lives of Jamaicans and shown incredible loyalty to our humanitarian work and our mission – to empower Jamaican children in need.

To celebrate the spirit of One Love, read on to learn about some of the fabulous accomplishments, additions, and impacts Great Shape! made in 2009.

•Over 300 volunteers traveled to Jamaica last fall on three Great Shape! humanitarian projects: SuperKids, 1000 Smiles, and iCare.

•65 SuperKids volunteers from the U.S., Jamaica, and Germany learned to work together as a team to provide education to Jamaican children.

•SuperKids volunteers provided 16,000 children with over 15,000 book and gave Jamaican children the skills to read and the power to lead.

•In 7 years, over 15,000 children and adults have received much needed dental care through 3 sessions of the 1000 Smiles project.

•The pilot vision project iCare led by Steven Stern served over 1,850 Jamaicans in just 4 days.

•Director of Operations, Kate Wasserman, facilitated the Ashland Fundraiser in June to raise funds for Great Shape! projects without a hitch.

•The public relations team and interns in Spokane, WA made media miracles happen throughout 2009. See some of our press releases and stories here!

•Tiffany Rinaldi managed Executive Director Joe Wright’s office and operations with flair and effectiveness.

•Great Shape! welcomes 2 new board members, Brad Adams and Dr. C.R. Anderegg! A tech guru and a teeth man will surely add great leadership and love to Great Shape!

A big thanks goes out to everyone who contributed to the positive changes Great Shape! made in the world. As a Great Shape! family, we can all be proud of each other. There is no doubt that our work in Jamaica would be possible without wonderful volunteers, leaders, board members, humanitarians and everyday people like YOU! Celebrate the success and look forward to a new year full of potential; approach the rest of 2010 with an open heart and live in the joy of ONE LOVE.
