Humanitarian Spotlight: A.P.E. Bookkeeping

September 1, 2014greatshapeincdonate, Donation, donations, facebook, Fundraiser, fundraising, Great Shape Inc, GreatShape Jamaica, GreatShapeInc, humanitarian, Humanitarian Spotlight, Jamaica, Let It Shine, Let It Shine Media, Monroe Street Pub Crawl, non-profit, Pub Crawl, Seattle, Spokane, thank you, thankful, Uncategorized, www.gsjamaica.org

For long time Great Shape! Inc. family member and big time supporter A.P.E. Bookkeeping, the crazy did not end with their major sponsorship of the 7th annual Monroe St. Pub Crawl.

Thanks to Shelley Pedersen and the A.P.E. team in Spokane WA, the Pub Crawlin’ Monkeys were able to have a blast and raise about $3000 for humanitarian efforts in Jamaica. Big Up A.P.E. Team!

As soon as the Pub Crawl ended, The A.P.E. team moved directly from one crazy to another. They are now in the middle of a remodel of their home office according to Pedersen, the company’s owner. At A.P.E. the mission is to be Affordable, Personal, and Efficient bookkeepers. Pedersen comments that efficiency is really at the heart of everything they stand for, including the new remodel.

Pedersen used to work in corporate tax office but said, “the people coming in to get tax returns weren’t prepared,” and the process took far too long. Finally, she’d had enough and in 2001 decided to go it alone. A.P.E. Bookkeeping was founded to help clients manage their finances more efficiently.

A.P.E. now works with a wide variety of clients spread all over the U.S. from California and Washington to Florida and New York. “We do books for multi-million dollar businesses, small business, and we even help people out with their personal bills.”

However, A.P.E.’s efficiency does not end with their work. The remodel is all about efficiency according to Pedersen, and has demanded some flexibility from the team.

Pedersen said the project is full of “dirt and decisions.” Even the normal home entrances are blocked. “Despite there being three doors into the house, we are coming and going through the basement window, now my grandkids think that’s just how you get into grandma’s house,” laughed Pedersen.

As it stood prior to the remodel, the only way into the office was through the Pedersen home. Pedersen said the remodel will solve the problem, “My employees will be able to work in the office now even when I’m not there, and my daughters and I will stay in the house… it will be much more efficient.”

Pedersen is anxious for the project to be finished so she can get back to doing what she is good at; providing efficient and comprehensive customer service. “A lot of our clients work nights and weekends,” said Pedersen, “so we work nights and weekends too.” She pride’s her team on their ability to step up and meet deadlines, “We treat every client like they could make or break us.”

According to Pedersen the bookkeeping business is demanding, but in the end all the hard work pays off. “A client said to me once, ‘you treat me like I’m your only client,’ and to me, that is a good compliment.”

On Behalf of the entire Great Shape! family, thank you A.P.E. Bookkeeping for your Major Sponsorship of the Monroe St. Pub Crawl! You were such a joy to have along for the ride!
