Farhad Tyabji A.K.A. Papa Far I is a great addition to Seattle’s music scene. On February 6th and 7th his production company, Culture Yard, will celebrate the birth of Reggae Great, Bob Marley with the largest international reggae festival in the Northwest. Check it out at Seattle’s King Cat Theater. The line-up includes world-class Reggae Stars from as far away as the U.K. as close as downtown Seattle.
Papa Far I has lived all over the globe and embraces a personal philosophy to support people in need. “I believe in creating goodwill through music and raising awareness of oppression in the Caribbean and around the world” says Papa Far I. He is generously giving a portion of all tickets sold at the concert to Great Shape! Inc. Volunteers from Great Shape! will also join the festival for the second year to answer questions and spread the word about the life-changing humanitarian projects carried out in Jamaica.
Papa Far I started Culture Yard Productions in 2004. He wanted to create a venue to showcase Reggae music similar to a yearly festival he attended in San Diego, while in college. He is energized about the international music contacts he has made, the addition of sponsors and the positive response of Seattle audiences. “My productions continue to get better and this year will mark new turfs. I’m excited!” says Papa Far I.
