Strength and Support = A Successful Shipping Day!

October 9, 2014greatshapeinc1000 Smiles, charity, computers, dental project, Donation, eye care, Gonzaga University, Great Shape Inc, GreatShape Jamaica, gsjamaica.org, Hotstart, humanitarian, iCare, Inland ReTech, IT, Itron, Jamaica, KHQ, KREM TV, Let It Shine Media, literacy education, non-profit, one love, Sandals Foundation, Service, Spokane, SuperKids project, Teach The Teachers, thank you, Uncategorized, vision project, volunteering

Very soon hundreds of young children in Jamaica will get their hands on brand new computers. Tons of computer gear will soon be arriving in Jamaica. In fact, 4.5 tons of computer gear!

This equipment will be met in Jamaica by all of those volunteering with Great Shape! Inc.’s literacy project, SuperKids, in November. Volunteers will build computer labs in Jamaican schools with this new IT gear. The computers will be used in Great Shape!’s goal of educating hundreds of young children. More Jamaican children will now have access to not only literacy but to the world!

What exactly does 4.5 tons of equipment look like? On September 13th, Great Shape!’s team in Spokane, Washington joined together to pack 8,580lbs into 135 boxes on 13 pallets! Now that’s a lot of love in the form of computers! Brad Adams dedicates the entire year to gathering and refurbishing these computers. He is to thank for so much of the success of this project.

Tressanna Shipping Day

Volunteers started as early as 4 a.m. on the morning of shipping day and dozens more joined in throughout the day from all over town. The team traveled to three different stops in the Spokane area collecting computers and packaging equipment, including: the World Headquarters of Let It Shine Media, Great Shape! Inc.’s downtown storage and HotStart Inc. that donated shipping space and supplies. Volunteers teamed up to keep things moving quickly with a great assembly line.Laughs and good vibes passed throughout the assembly line along with the computer equipment. After a long day of hard work and sweat, the volunteers wrapped up the successful shipping day at 7:30 p.m.

Big up to those that helped make shipping day a fantastic success: HotStart, Let It Shine Media, KHQ, KREM TV, Roger Villamor, Jenica Villamor, Itron, Inland ReTech, Brad Adams, Mikey Varner, Ray Malik, Gonzaga University, Tressanna Adams, Lucinda Kay, Savina Lee, Alaysia Ross, Valerie McNaghten, Katie McNaghten, Jana Worthington, the Spawn family, Ryan Thomas, Jamee Mason, Olivia Murphy, Andy Saller, Dan Hosler, Pat Maguire, Henry Salzano, and Dominique Scott.

We want to extend a warm thank you. This would have not been possible without your willingness to step up and become true humanitarians!
