Deb Bowers, one of our Super-Star SuperKids volunteers is throwing a party to benefit the children of Jamaica, and everyone is invited!
Deb fell in love with Jamaica on her first visit. While planning her next trip, she stumbled upon the Great Shape! Inc.website. After reading the stories and checking out the site, she felt compelled to join the family! In 2010, Deb joined SuperKids in Jamaica!
“While spending time in the schools and working with the
children my love grew. It broke my heart when I found
out that the children could not attend school without
a uniform. In 2011, two months before the trip I was inspired
by a co-worker’s willingness to help me. She donated some
school supplies and said that she wanted to also donate
for some uniforms. She inspired me to set a goal of collecting
for 50 uniforms. In 1½ months I collected enough money to
supply 72 uniforms! I figured if I could do that in less than
2 months what could I do if I planned something bigger.
This year I came up with the idea to have a Fundraiser.”
Deb and her friends are planning a fun-filled family event with food, entertainment, vendors, games and activities for kids, raffles, door prizes, and a silent auction. There will be booths set up to collect school supplies and books, uniform donations, and sponsorship.
