My love for Jamaica and the people led me to the SuperKids Literacy Program in 2010.
After spending time with the children in school, my desire to help grew. Finding out that the children could not attend school without a uniform, was heartbreaking. I wanted to help as much as possible.  I have had several vacations in Jamaica. It was work of the SuperKids program and the wonderful people like Georgene, Gretchen, Lucinda and all the people in the program, that after my first trip with the program, I was hooked! I admire all they do to help the people in Jamaica.  With my growing excitement for the 2011 trip. As always I was talking about the SuperKids program at work, when a co-worker asked what I needed for supplies. I gave her a copy of supplies that we needed to ship. The next day she showed up with 3 bags of school supplies! I was so excited and thanked her several times. The following week she approached me again saying that she told her husband how excited I was over just a few school supplies. I told her how much the supplies were needed and appreciated by the children. She then told me that because of what I do for the children, she wanted to help me and donate money for 15 uniforms!! I was so EXCITED!! I could not believe that she was doing so much to help out. She got me started on my mission to collect money and set a goal to purchase 50 uniforms! I ask everyone that asks about my upcoming trip if they would like to help a child. I tell them how with just a $15.00 donation they can change a families life. I talk about the SuperKids program to everyone. I had a Partylite fundraiser to help with the cost of supplies. My co-workers asked “Is this for the kids?” When I say YES they are happy to help! I have SuperKids papers on my desk at all times and pass out information on the program. I have a lot of interest for next years trip. I have several people that were helping me meet my goal. They are truly amazing people! I am happy to say that I have exceeded my goal!!! I am so excited to see my final count when I land in Jamaica! I feel truly blessed to have such Great friends, family and co-workers. Without them I would have never met my GOAL!!!

I was chatting with the guy that collects my trash every day at work. He asked if I met my goal, and he said that he knew I would exceed it. I told him I would be collecting until the day I leave. Then changed it. I said I am going to collect at the airport and even on the plane. I am so excited to bring along a friend this year and introduce her to the program and all the wonderful people involved in it!!

A Special Thank You all that have donated! Because of your donations many lives will be changed!

One Love,
Deb Bowers
