Teach the Teachers 2014

April 14, 2014greatshapeincUncategorized

For future volunteers and supporters alike,

This blog was made because of expressed interest from our followers in coming to Jamaica and participating in the Great Shape! Inc. Teach the Teachers Computer Literacy project.  We need your help to spread the word and to join us as a volunteer in August. This is a special project, led by Brad Adams and his wife Lucinda Kay, it’s extremely fun way to give back with a very “local vibe”.
TEach the Teachers 1
This year’s project will run Aug 11-22 at Grange Hill High School . We will teach two weeks of computer classes (first week August 11-15, second week August 18-22). We will run two 5 day sessions, a beginning and advanced section. You will help teach Jamaican teachers how to use computers (basic skills, and we’ll coach you). Volunteers should plan on arriving on Aug. 9 or 10 with volunteer orientation in the evening of Aug. 10th.
Teach the Teachers 2
You are responsible for paying the following (or securing sponsors):
– Project Fee: Project fee for 2014 is $450 for returning volunteers and $500 for new volunteers.
– Hotel: We will stay in Negril on the seven mile beach at Negril Beach Club (NBC). With a shared room, NBC should be around $25-$30 per night.
– Food: $10 to $20 dollars a day if you stay away from tourist spots and use the kitchen in your room. (We take you to all kinds of fun places to eat)
– Airfare: varies based on where you are traveling from, but from Spokane it’s usually $550 to $750, much cheaper from bigger airport hubs.
