GreatShapeInc_NewIntern

Hi! My name is Kathleen Mahoney and I am the newest intern for Great Shape! and the Let It Shine community. I am excited to focus this fall on furthering the success of Great Shape! through fundraising events, public relations, and social media campaigns.

I am from San Francisco, California and a senior at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. In the spring of 2015, I will graduate with a major in Public Relations and a minor in English. I have a true passion for writing and storytelling. I initially wanted to go into the field of creative writing but I realized I also have an enthusiasm for the stories of others and decided Public Relations would be the best fit for me. I am thrilled to write the stories of volunteers as well as the people we serve in Jamaica.

I believe in helping others and the golden rule of treating others how you would want to be treated. Great Shape! clearly shows what happens when excellent people get together to create meaningful work that has a positive impact on the world.

I spent the 2013-2014 academic year abroad in Florence, Italy. Living in a completely new environment helped me to become a better business woman, critical thinker, and relationship builder. I love green apples, running, and reading. I have gone skydiving, paragliding, and hope to one day go canyon jumping. I am unbelievably grateful to be given the opportunity to grow with this extraordinary group over the next few months!
