The Magic, Black Box
The A-dec unit– You might say… “huh?”
It’s a tool that’s made a HUGE difference for Great Shape! Inc.’s 1000 Smiles Project.
Each unit is a full set of portable dental equipment in one black suitcase. Thanks to a group of donors in 2012, Great Shape! Inc. put 15 units into action. In the past 10 years, the 1000 Smiles clinics have come a long way from PVC Pipe and Duct Tape. Basically, these units are able to provide necessary dental equipment you would find in a dental office to remote areas of the world where the luxury of dental offices do not exist. “A full dental office in one box run by an air compressor,” raves one 1,000 Smiles volunteer.
All this in one donation; all this in one black box. We’d love to add more units to the fleet!

We also ask that you send out prayers and good vibes to the A-DEC family. Joan (pronounced Jo Ann) Austin unexpectedly died in her sleep on June 5 at her home in Newberg, OR. She was 81. Austin is honored for many accomplishments, including holding the distinction as the first woman to chair the Board of Directors for Associated Oregon Industries, elected in 1992.
