The Oregon Dental Conference in Portland in April:
It was exciting to see familiar faces from our 1000 Smiles dental projects as they collaborated in workshops and shared their expertise with other dental professionals. I was blessed to volunteer beside longtime supporters, and to share our Great Shape!
mission with so many new people passing by our booth.
1000 Smiles Grenada in August:
I experienced joy moments every day. My daughter Lucinda (GS!I Communications Director) joined me for a week, she trained staff in social media and we worked on recording various videos. Leanne Rodine, the superstar dental leader from Canada surprised us by joining the project in Grenada. And Eslin Carvey, a long time SuperKids literacy volunteer joined me for week two of the dental project. It was inspiring to learn a different culture, on a different island other than Jamaica. The roti is delicious! Eslin and I got to help run registration at a clinic and hold hands with those most scared.
Packing & shipping for Lil’ Beavers:
So many have donated to sponsor these innovative, ultrasonic scalers that work wonders on our Caribbean dental patients. I’m packing and shipping the commemorative beach towel as a thank you (towels gifted by Leanne Rodine).
